SVP board member Dan Shaw was honored with a Quilt of Valor at the January 19 Staples All Veterans and Community Park board meeting. Quilts of Valor is a National Organization with smaller chapters all over the U.S. It’s purpose is to award active duty and veterans with a Lifetime Achievement award for their dedication and sacrifices they have made for our Country. The local Chapter of Quilts of Valor in Aitkin, Mn is run through the Ripple River Quilt Guild and it would not be possible without the generous donations from our Veteran Organizations and private citizens.
On behalf of the Aitkin Quilters we would like to present you with a quilt today. It’s a small token to let you know how important you were and still are to us. All members of the guild had a part in each of the quilts. We have worked hard and everyone had a hand in the construction, either sewing the blocks, hand-stitching the binding, quilting, sewing on the labels etc. We feel it is the best for the best.
We honor and respect you for your dedication, sacrifices, and the commitments you have given for us, the United States of America. You were there for us – no matter what role you played, either big or small, every one of you were a necessary cog in our great military.
So, because of you we have a free. safe and great nation
Dan served in the U.S. Air Force from July 1969 to May 1973 and served his last year in the Vietnam theater.
